Understanding oneself and one’s core identity is the foundation of establishing an impactful and effective identity as a leader, developing purpose, and understanding how one is perceived by others. This module includes relevant leadership models and theory of self-change.

This is a key context with which the emerging leader must engage. Topics include emotional intelligence, family systems and decision-making processes, understanding and articulating the family’s shared values, and the different roles within the family.

This final module includes understanding the difference between management and leadership, and how each is used in tandem in a family context, and workshops on family conflict and leadership styles. These build on earlier material and theory. Governance structures, sources of risk and building cohesiveness round out this module.

Like any new CEO, there is a short period of time to create significance with all the stakeholders, understand the full terrain of the current vision and strategy while seeking to bring the family along for the next stage of its journey. These must be anticipated and managed proactively.

The Rising Generation program is tailored to address the specific challenges/issues of emerging leaders, while also allowing for deep dive learning with other emerging family business leaders. We ensure an environment of confidentiality and trust, which enables meaningful sharing to happen.

After completing the preparation coursework and the retreat, participants will be:

The Rising Generation Fellowship

The Rising Generation Fellowship has an Asia/Australia geographic focus and brings together diverse cohorts of emerging family enterprise leaders for an initial three-day intensive learning and discovery retreat.

The retreat combines personal and leadership development with long-practiced rite-of-passage practices to create a life-changing experience for future business family leaders.​

This offsite gathering is then followed by a series of online and offline connection points – individual coaching sessions and small facilitated groups over the next 6-12 months to help leaders apply the learnings in practice, develop their transformational leadership skills, and benefit from facilitated and peer support of the group.

​​Preparation for the retreat includes core readings, assessments (including 360° from others within the family enterprise), and a debrief to identify specific areas of focus. The retreat itself is composed of three core study modules:
